About the position

As a Technical Product Manager at ByteDance, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our E-commerce ecosystem platform. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the strategic technical product roadmap, ensuring seamless synergy between our internal technical teams and business stakeholders. This involves overseeing critical areas such as seller risk control, policy education, moderation flow, content safety, logistics risk control, and the rating system for shops and creators. You will leverage your technical and technology-oriented business background to drive product development and execution, ensuring that our products not only meet market demands but also enhance user experience. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting both quantitative and qualitative analyses, utilizing data mining, data analytics, and machine learning to inform product roadmaps. You will define the standards for machine learning model deployment and be accountable for the application of model detection results. Your collaboration with engineers will be crucial as you create detailed technical product requirement specifications and work cross-functionally to define, market, and enhance various product opportunities. Gathering customer and market feedback will be a key part of your responsibilities, as you proactively identify and address customer pain points to increase product adoption. You will also perform market competitive analysis to define the product vision, including future roadmaps, investment strategies, and innovation initiatives. Balancing trade-offs among seller experience, user experience, performance, and creator experience will be essential to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic technical product roadmap management leveraging technical and technology-oriented business background for the development and execution of seamless strategic synergy between internal technical team and business stakeholders within our E-commerce ecosystem platform.
  • Responsible for quantitative (including statistics, data mining, data analytics, and machine learning), qualitative, business/operational, and strategic analyses to come up with product roadmaps and to lead product development.
  • Define standards of machine learning models' deployment and be responsible for applications of model detection results.
  • Create technical product requirement specifications and collaborate with engineers on technical design of product features.
  • Work cross-functionally to define, market, coordinate, develop, execute and/or enhance various sets of new and existing products opportunities.
  • Gather customer and market feedback, and business metrics and proactively identify and address customer pain points to increase adoption of products.
  • Perform market competitive analysis and define product vision including future roadmap, investment, innovation, and experimentation.
  • Manage prioritization and balance trade-offs among seller experience, user experience, performance, and creator experience within the ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Must have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Data Science, Machine Learning, Business Analytics, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, and 2 years of related work experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in the same fields and 5 years of post-bachelor's, progressive related work experience.
  • 2 years of experience in analyzing and interpreting results from experimental design, standard experimental design, randomized control test, data-driven statistical analysis, and attribution analysis to gain insights that inform business decisions.
  • 2 years of experience in building dashboards and reports to gather and process large quantities of data to support the monitoring and evaluation of product performance using SQL and analyzing reports on Google Analytics.
  • 2 years of experience in analyzing quantitative financial and operational data using Excel or SQL to generate business insights and inform future strategy.
  • 2 years of experience in managing projects involving cross-functional stakeholders to formulate workplan, drive alignment, coordinate collaboration, and deliver strategic business outcome.
  • 2 years of experience in performing end-to-end product management, including coordinating cross-functional teams in product conceptualization, design, development, and deployment.
  • Experience using Product Management tools, including JIRA and MS Office, to write detailed technical product requirements and user stories.
