About the position

The Sales Specialist/Product Manager at Hussmann Corporation will play a pivotal role in collaborating with Sales and Product Management to address the needs of specific end-user customers and the broader market. This position encompasses responsibilities as both a Sales Specialist for Core & Distributed (C&D) products and a Product Manager for non-traditional and new/emerging products. The Core & Distributed products include traditional supermarket remote refrigeration merchandisers, self-contained (plug & play) merchandisers, and other distributed refrigeration case equipment. The individual will be instrumental in driving revenue and operational income objectives while ensuring that the sales team is well-equipped with the necessary product knowledge and skills. This will involve coaching the sales team, supporting value selling training initiatives, and providing product expert support to enhance the overall sales strategy. In the role of Product Manager, the individual will be responsible for developing a multi-year product roadmap and leading the marketing and business planning processes for identified products. This includes working cross-functionally with various departments such as sales, engineering, manufacturing, and finance to create business cases, set profitability expectations, and define actionable plans for product growth. The position also requires overseeing commercialization activities, which encompass forecasting, pricing, promotion, marketing communications, and training. The Product Manager will continuously assess market performance, gather market intelligence, and ensure timely adjustments to strategies based on market reactions and customer feedback. The goal is to enhance brand strength and leverage the company's competitive advantages while ensuring that all aspects of the product group align with the company's objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide product expert support to achieve Revenue and OI objectives.
  • Coach Sales team to develop product knowledge & skills development regarding C&D product lines.
  • Support value selling training initiatives to drive value-based pricing methodologies.
  • Train internal and external audiences on the C&D product portfolio.
  • Act as a liaison between Sales, Product Management, and the broader organization to support customer-specific needs.
  • Engage with customers and Sales to collect market insights and inform product strategies for C&D product lines.
  • Collaborate with C&D product managers to develop multi-year product roadmaps.
  • Prioritize needs and collect market insights in collaboration with C&D product managers and market research team.
  • Establish strong communication and partnering relationships between marketing and the sales organization.
  • Maintain regular contact with sales management to facilitate the flow of sales and marketing ideas.
  • Understand and evaluate the competitive landscape to identify portfolio gaps and leverage areas of differentiation.
  • Develop multi-year product roadmap as Product Manager.
  • Lead the marketing and business planning process for identified products.
  • Work cross-functionally to develop business cases and set profitability expectations.
  • Oversee commercialization activities for the identified portfolio.
  • Assess and evaluate distribution channels to devise appropriate channel marketing strategies.
  • Enhance and build brand strength to leverage competitive advantage.
  • Continuously review performance of the product group compared to plans and objectives.
  • Gather and analyze market intelligence regarding customer needs and market trends.
  • Ensure timely adjustments to changing markets and competitive conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, marketing, or business administration is required; MBA is preferred.
  • 5 years in product management, engineering, and/or sales experience.
  • Experience supporting product & marketing management, new product development, and strategy activities.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including the ability to build business cases.
