About the position

The Technical Product Manager for Search, Summary, and Insight at Merck Sharp & Dohme will lead the development of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative AI workflows aimed at enhancing knowledge management and insight generation from unstructured data. This role focuses on delivering tailored solutions for text understanding, such as systematic literature reviews and ad hoc question answering, while collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure the strategic vision is realized. The position emphasizes software product reuse and innovation, enabling faster delivery of future workflows and experimentation with new ideas.

Responsibilities

• Drive the development of NLP and Generative AI workflows for knowledge management.
• Lead the delivery of tailored solutions for text understanding use cases.
• Collaborate with technical leads and cross-functional teams to ensure strategic vision adoption.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand real-world challenges and develop automated data solutions.
• Implement and standardize ML and LLM operations for model evaluation and monitoring.
• Present team approaches and their impacts to internal and external audiences.

Requirements

• Experience in product management, particularly with data- and ML-driven products.
• Proven ability to lead agile software development teams and apply agile best practices.
• Familiarity with continuous integration practices and SDLC management.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with experience in scientific communication.
• Proficiency in Python and full-stack software development, including version control with git.
• Experience with data engineering frameworks like Apache Spark and orchestration frameworks.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with semantic search and retrieval frameworks.
