About the position

The Technical Product Manager (SEO) role at Eliassen Group is a contract position focused on managing and enhancing the technical SEO health of websites. This remote position requires collaboration with product, development, and analytics teams to implement effective technical SEO strategies that drive visibility and traffic. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in ensuring websites meet SEO standards and optimizing for search engine performance.

Responsibilities

• Ensure clients' websites meet all technical SEO requirements, including optimizing HTML, JavaScript, and server-side rendering to improve search engine crawlability and page performance.
• Develop detailed user stories that align with SEO best practices, enhancing the website's technical SEO, including improvements for structured data, mobile friendliness, and core web vitals.
• Oversee the technical health of the site by ensuring key pages are crawlable and indexed effectively by search engines.
• Diagnose and resolve issues identified in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, including crawl errors and page indexation issues.
• Identify, prioritize, and resolve issues like 404 errors, 500 errors, and broken internal links that impact SEO performance.
• Manage and implement 301 redirects to ensure link equity and minimize broken link issues during site migrations or content updates.
• Ensure proper schema markup is implemented and maintained to enhance visibility and search appearance.
• Conduct regular SEO audits using tools to identify opportunities and mitigate risks for technical SEO.
• Monitor and report on the impact of technical SEO initiatives, utilizing analytics and reporting tools to assess improvements in site visibility, traffic, and engagement.
• Conduct technical SEO competitor analysis to identify gaps, opportunities, and best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience managing technical SEO for a large, complex website or portfolio.
• Strong experience ensuring websites meet all technical SEO requirements, including optimizing HTML, JavaScript, and server-side rendering.
• Experience analyzing large datasets and providing actionable insights, including competitor analysis.
• Excellent proficiency in Excel; experience with Python is strongly preferred.
• Experience creating user stories that align with SEO best practices.
• Agile experience.
• JavaScript/HTML5/CSS3 experience and working closely with development teams.
• Experience using tools like Bing Webmaster, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, and Ahrefs.
• Bachelor's Degree.
• Excellent communication, prioritization, and organizational skills.
