About the position

The Technical Product Manager for the b-there Telepresence Network at Just-b will play a pivotal role in the development and management of innovative robotic systems that enhance immersive experiences through telepresence technology. This position involves overseeing the entire lifecycle of robotic hardware and software, ensuring that existing devices are maintained while also planning for future enhancements and integrations into new platform features and markets. The Technical Product Manager will be responsible for designing, integrating, testing, deploying, and maintaining hardware and software that facilitate robotic functionality and integration with cloud-based, mobile-friendly applications. In this role, you will identify market-valued enhancements and develop a technical pathway and go-to-market strategy to capitalize on these opportunities. You will also be tasked with identifying and integrating industry telepresence devices that align with the objectives of the b-there Network. Acting as a liaison between Just-b and external robotics hardware and software vendors, you will collaborate closely with software application architects and engineers to distribute telepresence features effectively across the network. Your responsibilities will include eliciting feedback and researching market drivers to inform high-level product strategy and priorities. You will work alongside the CEO, VP of Customer Success, and CTO to execute business objectives through the development of product roadmaps and go-to-market plans. Additionally, you will partner with the CFO to manage product budget estimates and prepare executive-facing status reports that include product P&L and forecasts. As a proactive team player, you will be expected to suggest improvements, solve problems, and escalate risks as necessary. You will design and perform system validation and verification tests on both prototype and production robots, ensuring that the products meet customer expectations. Your role will also involve developing project management documents, guiding communication between business users and the implementation team, and improving the efficiency of delivery and support activities in the field through product enhancements and automation. Ultimately, you will be part of a diverse team dedicated to making a real-world impact through advanced technologies, and your work will incorporate the latest algorithms from academia and Just-b's internal research and development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit feedback and research market drivers to deliver high-level product strategy and priorities.
  • Work with the CEO, VP Customer Success, and CTO to identify and execute business objectives through the development of product roadmap and go-to-market plans.
  • Work with CFO to collect, document, and manage product budget estimates.
  • Partner with CTO to conduct vendor RFP/RFI in support of solution development and maintenance, and estimates for projects.
  • Collaborate with internal resources and external partners/contractors to build a robot that will exceed customer expectations.
  • Support funding efforts in collaboration with the CEO and CFO.
  • Prepare executive-facing status reports including product P&L and forecasts.
  • Evaluate robotics system intelligence algorithms and develop and modify them as needed.
  • Proactively suggest improvements, solve problems, and escalate risks.
  • Design and perform system validation and verification tests in prototype and production robots.
  • Identify stakeholders and communicate effectively through identified communication outlets.
  • Develop program and project management documents such as project management plans, schedules, budgets, and project logs.
  • Guide communication between business users and the implementation team, ensuring effective communication with co-workers, customers, and supervisors.
  • Improve efficiency of delivery, installation, configuration, and support activities in the field through product enhancements and automation.
  • Manage the assignment of project tasks to ensure deadlines are met appropriately.
  • Develop the project team, assessing individual skills, driving deliverables, and reviewing/challenging output.
  • Prepare and present technical and/or educational documentation to enhance the knowledge and effectiveness of project team members.
  • Work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Experience in C++, Python, Java, ROS2, Qt, Linux, Mongo DB, Javascript, React, AWS Chime and Cloud.
  • Strong analytical reasoning, organizational, communication, and prioritization skills.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant engineering degree.
  • 5+ years of technical product development and management experience.
  • Experience driving and delivering product P&L goals.
  • Experience managing diverse teams, including contractors, and complex projects.
  • Experience working in technology project implementation for healthcare, education, and/or consumer markets.
  • Ability to connect technology solutions to effective business outcomes.
  • Experience creating and driving product roadmaps, budgets, project plans, and go-to-market plans.
  • Experience creating user-facing and internal team product documentation.
  • Strong collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience working in and building a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
