About the position

The Technical Product Manager at USAFacts plays a crucial role in enhancing the data platform, which is essential for providing unbiased and transparent data about the United States. This position focuses on leveraging AI and data integration technology to improve data acquisition processes, thereby driving growth and social impact. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and execute roadmaps that empower various stakeholders to effectively utilize government data.

Responsibilities

  • Listen to customers to understand their scenarios and challenges.
  • Incorporate AI in all aspects of processes and deliverables to achieve velocity and scalability.
  • Develop and own roadmaps for data acquisition and metadata definition of federal, state, and local data.
  • Ensure automation, scalability, quality, and agility of the components.
  • Identify and develop high-quality technical requirements to optimize data acquisition experience.
  • Develop product specifications for metadata definition, data transformation, and standardization.
  • Specify QA plans and use cases to ensure data quality.
  • Establish relevant metrics and KPIs to ensure product success that aligns with organizational goals.
  • Partner with engineering teams in all phases of development as a product expert on data acquisition.
  • Provide research, prototypes, and proof of concept support for engineering teams.
  • Perform hands-on execution during various phases of projects, including day-to-day contributions as part of data acquisition and agile development processes.
  • Ensure timely delivery of products and datasets by collaborating with engineering, content development, and data analytics teams.
  • Influence without direct control and align cross-functional teams behind the roadmap.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in a technical field working with data products.
  • 2+ years of product management experience, including writing specifications and delivery of functions/features of technical products or online services.
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and design related to data ingestion/integration solutions.
  • Experience with data ingestion/integration tools and languages, including SQL and Python.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct reporting lines.
  • A customer-centric mentality, capable of understanding and prioritizing stakeholder and customer needs.
  • Commitment to the USAFacts mission through a love of data and understanding of American government.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Some fluency with government or public data.
  • Experience with data quality standards and processes.
