About the position

As a Technical Product Manager at Lavu, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our restaurant point of sale (POS) systems and payment processing solutions. In this fast-paced startup environment, you will be responsible for driving the technical product roadmap for our suite of services, including POS, Online Ordering, Payments, and Payroll. Your role will involve close collaboration with engineering teams, business teams, and customers to design, define, launch, and scale features that meet the diverse needs of the restaurant industry. The restaurant domain is complex and requires a deep understanding of customer needs and technical challenges. You will be expected to maintain high standards of product quality with a customer-first approach, ensuring that our products not only meet but exceed customer expectations. Your ability to translate customer feedback into actionable product requirements will be crucial in driving the success of our offerings. You will also be responsible for researching and proposing new features, championing customer needs internally, and collaborating with various teams to ensure the stability and security of our production systems. This role demands a hands-on product manager who is passionate about delivering 24/7 service to our customers around the world and is comfortable working in a startup environment where agility and innovation are key.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the technical product roadmap for Lavu's POS, Online Ordering, Payments, Payroll, and other services working closely with the domain experts on the product team.
  • Work closely with designers and developers to concept, prototype, ship, measure, and improve products that directly improve outcomes for restaurants.
  • Define both product strategy and detailed technical requirements for each feature.
  • Research and propose new features with a full understanding of the tech stack.
  • Champion customer needs internally by building strong relationships with sales, marketing, and customer success.
  • Collaborate with the DevOps team to ensure that production systems are stable and secure to meet customer demands.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for customers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a principal technical product manager for SaaS products, preferably in the hospitality/restaurant domain.
  • Experience in defining and launching mobile and web products (iOS experience is a plus).
  • A proven track record of working collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Startup mindset to create compelling product features and technical definitions and work with engineering teams.
  • Ownership of scaling a product, including setting, measuring, and optimizing the right metrics.
  • Guide members of engineering teams on how to build with new technologies, and how to set patterns and frameworks.
  • Experience in monitoring for potential customer issues and proactively recommending technical solutions.
  • Experience in working closely with remote engineering teams.
  • Self-starter with a problem solver mentality.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment and communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall characteristics of production services.
  • Deep understanding of AWS, iOS, Databases, and Web technologies. Strong SQL skills, and comfortable working with production DBAs.
  • B.S. in Computer Science and MBA.
