About the position

The Technical Product Manager I at ICW Group is responsible for guiding insurance products from conception to launch by bridging the technical and business aspects. This role involves creating product roadmaps, managing technical teams, and ensuring successful product lifecycle management. The position requires a deep understanding of technology, the insurance domain, and business needs to drive innovation and success in product offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all planning and roadmap execution for insurance products and services.
  • Works with business leaders and executives to develop the technical product roadmap and drive execution, aligning with the company's overall vision and business goals.
  • Evangelizes the roadmap constantly so all stakeholders are aligned and understand future direction and implications.
  • Leads one or more Product Scrum teams comprised of Technology professionals along with a dotted line of business professionals that work with business stakeholders.
  • Oversees the execution of product development cycle to meet requirements, demos the product with end users and optimizes the product features based on user feedback.
  • Provides guidance and expertise to internal teams and external stakeholders on product features, functionality, and capabilities.
  • Supports the growth and expansion of the Company's insurance products and service offerings by identifying unmet needs of consumers, assesses the competitive landscape and opportunities for product development.
  • Drives product launches to ensure successful market adoption and customer satisfaction.
  • Develops funding proposals to ensure the continuous delivery of product features.
  • Liaises with other product managers to ensure effective and efficient delivery.
  • Ensures that product portfolio delivers on revenue, retention, and customer satisfaction targets.
  • Develop and manage product teams.
  • Provides strategic, and daily tactical direction to the team. Communicates Mission, Values, and other organization operating principles to direct and indirect reports.
  • Advocates for Agile values, principles, and practices within the organization.
  • Oversees recruitment and training of new employees.
  • Ensures all staff members receive orientation and appropriate training in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Oversees the performance management and development process for the direct reports.
  • Develops operational budget for the product teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of related experience managing technical teams and translating business needs to a technical audience.
  • Experience in the insurance industry is highly desired.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience as a Product Manager, Technical Product Manager, or similar role.
  • Successful completion of a recognized product owner/management certification like CSPO or PSPO required.
  • Certified Scrum Master required, SAFe preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Solid working knowledge of the Agile Scrum development process.
  • Technical background with a good understanding of software development processes, cloud technologies, APIs, and data integration.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written), good interpersonal and leadership skills.
