About the position

The Technical Product Manager for the Perception and Planning & Execution teams at Seegrid is a pivotal role that focuses on driving solution definitions to support business ideas and product concepts across various levels, including team, program, and enterprise. This position requires the Technical Product Manager to gather and translate testable requirements into effective software solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep domain knowledge and extensive experience in collaborating with a diverse team, which includes product managers, software developers, and quality engineers. By partnering with both business and technology stakeholders, the Technical Product Manager will manage metric-based development backlogs, direct teams, and define deliverables, ensuring that the product maximizes value for customers by addressing both technical and non-technical aspects. In this role, the Technical Product Manager will collaborate closely with business, product, and engineering teams to detail use cases and workflows. This collaboration is essential to communicate the scope of development with various partners, ensuring that the emerging platform meets customer needs throughout all stages, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and release. The Technical Product Manager will also work alongside Product Managers to understand and support the product vision, roadmap, and growth opportunities. They will be responsible for translating product requirements into detailed engineering requirements for both prototype construction and final product development, while also managing and curating the backlog to ensure that customer satisfaction goals are met. As the Voice of the Customer, the Technical Product Manager will represent customer needs and product requirements to the engineering teams. They will be an integral member of the Perception and Planning & Execution development teams, driving product development and implementation using Agile methodologies to define acceptance criteria. This role empowers the Technical Product Manager to help drive and implement strategic architecture solutions that align with the overall product vision and technical roadmaps.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business, product, and engineering teams to detail use cases and workflows to communicate the scope of development.
  • Partner with Product Managers to understand and support the product vision, roadmap, and growth opportunities.
  • Translate product requirements into detailed Perception and Planning engineering requirements for prototype construction and final product development.
  • Manage and curate the backlog to ensure customer satisfaction goals are met.
  • Act as the Voice of the Customer by understanding and representing their needs and product requirements to the engineering teams.
  • Drive product development and implementation using Agile methodologies to define acceptance criteria.
  • Help drive and implement strategic architecture solutions.

Requirements

  • Experience in a relevant robotics domain and/or sensor systems (including 2D/3D LiDAR, stereo cameras, inertial sensors, etc).
  • Large-scale technical product management experience.
  • Ability to translate complex topics into a set of independent, small, testable stories.
  • Strong communication and partnering skills.
  • Ability to build credibility and strong relationships with product management counterparts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and navigate complex decision-making in a large multi-location organization.
  • Ability to define and articulate engineering solutions to achieve the product vision and technical product roadmaps.
  • Ability to define and use metrics as a basis for future product-related decisions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with perception algorithm implementation.
  • Experience in SLAM, computer vision, machine learning/deep learning.
  • Large-scale technical development experience.
  • Entrepreneurial experience in a culture of influencing without authority.
  • Familiarity with user-centric design and customer journey maps.
  • Understanding of concepts such as using prototypes to validate assumptions and failing fast.
