About the position

The Technical Product Manager position at SPECTRAFORCE is a pivotal role that involves managing the strategic value, roadmap, and evolution of analytics tools and related services. This position is essential for ensuring that the tools not only meet the current needs of stakeholders but also align with industry trends and technological innovations. The successful candidate will take on end-to-end responsibility for the analytics platform, which is utilized by various Data and Analytics teams across the enterprise to store, curate, share, and visualize critical business data and insights. In this role, the Technical Product Manager will be responsible for recognizing and articulating business problems or opportunities, defining target metrics, and creating well-formed epics or user stories for engineering teams. This will enable the teams to design, build, release, and monitor technical solutions efficiently. The position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, and business experts, to manage product planning and execution effectively. Key projects include supporting tools and features, particularly a significant initiative involving the migration of Tableau to a cloud-based server. The Technical Product Manager will maintain and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business priorities and technology strategies. They will also be responsible for building and evangelizing product roadmaps, driving technical solutions for complex features, and defining product performance metrics to measure success and adoption. Additionally, the role involves resolving technical blocking issues and coordinating solutions across multiple technical teams, while also acting as a coach and mentor to team members on various competencies related to technical product management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage product planning and execution through collaboration with cross-functional teams including architects, engineers, and business experts.
  • Maintain and prioritize the product backlog to align with business priorities and technology strategy.
  • Build and evangelize product roadmaps to various levels of leadership.
  • Drive technical solutions for large and complex features independently.
  • Create functional and technical specifications for the engineering team.
  • Define product performance and effectiveness metrics to measure success and adoption.
  • Help resolve technical blocking issues and coordinate solutions across multiple technical teams.
  • Identify technical tradeoffs, escalate risks, and manage mitigation in collaboration with neighboring teams.
  • Communicate effectively with technology and business teams independently.
  • Act as a coach/mentor to the team on various technical product manager competencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in a technology environment with a record of successfully delivering complex products.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in developing technical roadmaps, writing user stories, and refining product backlogs in an agile environment.
  • 3+ years' experience working as a Product Owner in the Data & Analytics domain delivering cloud-native or adjacent platform and visualization capabilities at enterprise scale.
  • Strong knowledge of systems development lifecycle and technology operations.
  • Strong knowledge of agile development practices, methodologies, and tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with big data architectures and performance challenges on public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of SQL, Spark, Python.
  • Experience in SaaS application configuration management and rollout.
  • MicroStrategy experience.
