About the position

The Technical Product Owner (TPO) at Ascend Learning plays a crucial role in bridging business requirements and technical execution within agile teams. This position is responsible for transforming market needs into actionable features and user stories, ensuring that product development aligns with customer needs and business objectives. The TPO will prioritize backlogs, manage sprints, and support development teams to deliver high-quality products that meet established success criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Understand market needs and transform business requirements into features and user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Engage with Technical Product Managers and business product owners to gather and understand customer needs and requirements.
  • Prioritize and manage backlogs, maintaining a well-prioritized list of features and user stories.
  • Modify product features and requirements based on new information from Product Managers.
  • Conduct work prioritization and manage sprints for new features/products.
  • Track and manage product development to ensure alignment with established requirements and market/user feedback.
  • Support development teams in grooming the backlog during sprint planning by clarifying user stories and setting priorities.
  • Oversee performance against success criteria, including customer perspective and UAT/OT.
  • Drive alignment through effective and consistent communication.
  • Deliver consistent and clear release notes.
  • Support and drive documentation that meets customer needs and enables training and implementation.
  • Articulate risk and mitigations early and often.
  • Drive decision making on tradeoffs through understanding of business needs and technical options.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields combined with relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in project management, consulting, Agile development, or information technology.
  • Experience working in an agile environment is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and market dynamics.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills across different functions and cultures.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into features and user stories and manage a feature backlog.
  • Strong project management skills, including managing deadlines and prioritizing tasks.
  • In-depth understanding of Agile methodology and digital technologies.
