About the position

As a Technical Product Support Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of our products, specifically focusing on our Centrifugal and Rotary Screw chillers. This remote position will serve as the primary point of contact for strategic customers regarding all quality-related efforts. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including Strategic Account Managers, Area Service Managers, Operations leadership, and Technical Service teams, to meet and exceed customer expectations. Your responsibilities will include providing expert knowledge and consultation to develop HVAC system solutions tailored to customer needs, which will involve financial and performance considerations. You will consistently assess customer needs and market opportunities, coordinating acquisition teams as necessary to address specific projects. Additionally, you will assist customers with technical inquiries related to HVAC systems and Trane products, while also identifying quality issues that may affect targeted customers. Working with the quality departments of strategic customers, you will help devise plans to mitigate any potential impacts. Establishing strong peer relationships with key individuals from Strategic Accounts and within the company is essential. You will conduct regular account reviews with sales offices and customers to strategize business growth and work internally with our Engineering to Order (ETO) team to create products and systems that facilitate new business penetration. This role may require domestic and international travel to customer locations, with travel expectations of up to 10%. You will also provide on-site support as necessary to meet the expectations of our strategic customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide knowledge and consultation in developing HVAC system related solutions for customer problems, including financial and performance-based considerations.
  • Ascertain customer needs and current market opportunities, assembling and coordinating acquisition teams as needed for customers and projects.
  • Assist customers in answering technical questions on HVAC systems, Trane Products, and relevant industry issues.
  • Identify quality issues that may impact targeted customers and work with strategic customers' quality departments to develop mitigation plans.
  • Establish peer relationships with key individuals from Strategic Accounts and the company on all levels nationally, regionally, and locally.
  • Conduct regular account reviews with sales offices and customers to develop strategies for business growth.
  • Work internally with the ETO team to create products and systems for new business penetration.
  • Provide on-site support as deemed necessary to meet strategic customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical degree.
  • At least 5 years of commercial HVAC applications work experience.
  • Experience as a strategic customer advocate to facilitate quality issue communication and resolution.
  • Technical aptitude to communicate effectively about centrifugal chillers and their applications.
  • Project management experience leading cross-functional teams is preferred.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
