About the position

As a Technical Program Manager at Guidewire, you will play a pivotal role in the development and delivery of cloud infrastructure solutions that are essential for the insurance industry. This position is designed for an individual who is not only experienced in program management but also passionate about leveraging cutting-edge cloud technologies such as Kubernetes and AWS. You will be responsible for owning, planning, and delivering key cross-functional initiatives and technical projects, with an initial focus on security and cost optimizations. Your work will have high visibility among senior engineering and product leadership, including Directors, Senior Directors, and VPs. In this role, you will recommend, define, and measure critical metrics that matter for platform teams. You will lead teams in becoming more data-driven in their decision-making processes, owning these metrics, inspecting for variances, proposing corrective actions, and driving changes to improve outcomes. Your ability to align loosely coupled, fast-moving teams will be crucial, as will your courage to tackle ambiguous problems, conduct independent research, and facilitate decision-making with senior leaders. This position is office-based in Birmingham, AL, with the flexibility to work from home as applicable, and it reports directly to the Director of Program Management.

Responsibilities

  • Own, plan, and deliver key cross-functional initiatives and technical projects focusing on security and cost optimizations.
  • Recommend, define, and measure critical metrics for platform teams.
  • Lead teams to become more data-driven in decision-making processes.
  • Inspect metrics for variances and propose corrective actions to improve outcomes.
  • Align fast-moving and loosely coupled teams to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Conduct independent research to tackle ambiguous problems and facilitate decision-making with senior leaders.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of project/program management experience leading complex technical projects, preferably in cloud-based solutions or infrastructure management.
  • Strong experience with work planning and tracking tools such as Jira, Aha, Trello, or Asana.
  • Proven ability to determine effective program critical metrics and use them to measure program success and issues.
  • Ability to align teams and facilitate collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
  • Courage to address ambiguous problems and drive decision-making processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advocate and active follower of cloud technologies and market trends.
  • Experience with Product or Engineering Operations.
  • Prior experience managing Data Centers, Security, or FinOps teams.
  • Technical certifications in AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, Security, or other cloud-native technologies.
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or Math or equivalent professional proficiency.
