About the position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring that the cloud remains operational and efficient. As a Technical Program Manager in Data Center Engineering, you will be part of a diverse team that includes software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Your role will involve collaborating with various teams across AWS to maintain the highest standards of safety and security while providing extensive capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. You will be expected to tackle complex challenges that involve numerous variables impacting the supply chain, and your contributions will be vital in ensuring the seamless operation of AWS data centers. In this position, you will oversee the complete equipment qualification process, ensuring that all technical, operational, safety, quality, reliability, and business requirements are met on a global scale. You will develop and maintain a scalable mechanism to integrate diverse teams, ensuring that all power and cooling equipment undergoes the necessary qualification tests. Your collaboration will extend to architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines, as well as material suppliers, to deliver high-quality designs that support favorable business outcomes. Additionally, you will support the Basis of Design release management program, ensuring end-to-end cross-team alignment and supporting other critical business programs that enable production readiness. Successful candidates will possess strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and proficiency in project management tools and methodologies across all phases of the project lifecycle. You will demonstrate expertise in core project management disciplines, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality, risk management, reporting, and metric development/tracking. Familiarity with building codes and regulations, as well as the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and equipment specifications, will be essential for success in this role. Your passion for deploying highly technical and innovative projects at a massive scale will be a key driver in your contributions to the AWS team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the complete equipment qualification process, ensuring alignment across various teams and adherence to technical, operational, safety, quality, reliability, and business requirements on a global scale.
  • Develop and sustain a scalable mechanism to seamlessly integrate diverse teams and ensure that all power and cooling equipment undergo the required qualification tests.
  • Collaborate with architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines, as well as material suppliers, to deliver high-quality designs that support favorable business outcomes.
  • Support Basis of Design release management program, ensuring and enabling end-to-end cross-team alignment.
  • Support other business critical programs enabling production readiness and other initiatives as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentations experience.
  • 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience.
  • 3+ years of technical product or program management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience.
  • Experience managing cross-functional programs and release schedules.
  • Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps.
  • Experience with MS Project, MS Office, and MS SharePoint.
