About the position

The Technical Program Manager for Exterior Systems at Ford Motor Company is responsible for driving engineering teams to resolve issues that arise during design reviews and build events. This role focuses on maintaining supplier relationships, ensuring timely deliveries, and monitoring work outputs for system compatibility. The manager will facilitate cross-functional collaboration to support key decisions and mitigate risks throughout the product development process.

Responsibilities

  • Drive engineering teams towards containment and resolution of issues raised from design reviews, virtual builds, and build events to protect the program's schedule.
  • Maintain supplier relationships in collaboration with the Supply Chain team to ensure timely deliveries for build events.
  • Monitor work outputs and deliverables for potential systems and vehicle incompatibilities and opportunities for greater integration, velocity, and collaboration.
  • Ensure problems are transparent and risks are identified, proactively ensuring that risk mitigating actions are ongoing within relevant engineering teams.
  • Set agenda for key decisions to be made at each meeting to eliminate bottlenecks and retire risks.
  • Support key decisions working cross-functionally across engineering, finance, and strategy to reach the right conclusions.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience in an automotive product development environment
  • Experience with Catia V5/6, Confluence, and Jira applications
  • In-depth technical knowledge and solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and design principles specific to exterior systems
  • Detailed knowledge of the product development process from design, development, validation, and industrialization
  • Proven experience driving progress on multiple projects across multiple locations and timelines
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with supply chain management and tooling timing planning
  • Experience in working on automotive Class A surface feasibility assessment and development
  • Direct and relevant TPM experience in developing complex, innovative assemblies
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, craftsmanship and CMF and how design execution would be affected
  • EE fundamentals (able to develop and read block diagrams etc.)
  • Collaborative leadership style, effective communication, collaboration, and conflict-resolution skills.
