About the position

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects that require a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills. Your role will involve planning requirements with internal customers and guiding projects through the entire lifecycle, from inception to completion. This includes managing project schedules, identifying potential risks, and effectively communicating these risks to stakeholders. You will be responsible for explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives while also engaging in technical discussions with engineers about product development trade-offs. In this position, you will utilize your extensive technical knowledge to manage projects of varying sizes and scopes, identifying future opportunities for improvement and driving the technical direction of your programs. You will work closely with the Core team, which builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products. This team advocates for the essential design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure that ensure excellent, safe, and coherent user experiences. Your contributions will help break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems, impacting important technical decisions across the company. You will also develop technical knowledge in the data access security domain to help scope project requirements effectively. Your responsibilities will include designing and delivering predictable program communication plans in collaboration with stakeholders, determining program phasing and metrics for continuous improvement, and managing project trackers and status reports. This role is crucial in ensuring that projects are executed efficiently while managing dependencies and prioritizing deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using engineering expertise.
  • Plan requirements with internal customers and manage projects through the entire lifecycle.
  • Manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate them to stakeholders.
  • Explain analyses and recommendations to executives and discuss technical trade-offs with engineers.
  • Identify future opportunities, improve processes, and drive technical directions of programs.
  • Develop technical knowledge in the data access security domain to scope project requirements.
  • Design and deliver program communication plans in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Determine program phasing and metrics for continuous improvement.
  • Collect and prioritize requirements and drive execution of deliverables while managing dependencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience with Security Assessments, Data Analytics, and SQL.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with Abuse Detection and Security.
  • Experience working with AI/ML.
  • Ability to understand engineering fundamentals and dashboards.
  • Passion for process improvement, automation, and increasing efficiency of execution.
