About the position

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you will leverage your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from inception to completion. Your role will involve collaborating with stakeholders to define project requirements, identify potential risks, manage project timelines, and maintain clear communication with cross-functional partners throughout the organization. You will be expected to articulate your team's analyses and recommendations to executives while also engaging in detailed discussions about technical trade-offs with engineers. This dual capability is essential for ensuring that projects are not only completed on time but also meet the high standards expected at Google. In this position, you will manage projects of varying sizes and scopes, utilizing your extensive technical and leadership skills to identify future opportunities, enhance processes, and drive the technical direction of your programs. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, which includes planning requirements with internal customers, managing project schedules, and effectively communicating risks to stakeholders. Your ability to navigate a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high velocity in project delivery will be crucial. Responsibilities

  • Provide software development and project management, cross-functional coordination, and inter/intra team communications to deliver outstanding program outcomes.
  • Work closely with Software Engineers, QA, Product Managers, and other engineering teams to ensure high-quality products and features are delivered through the software project lifecycle.
  • Manage project schedules, identify possible issues, and clearly communicate them to project stakeholders.
  • Take responsibility for release schedules and milestones, maintaining a high velocity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Lead several technical programs for the Google Cloud Business, setting priorities for products and engineering, and leading cross-functional teams to bring products to market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years of experience in cloud computing emerging technologies or related technical fields.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree, PhD, or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical related field.
  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 5 years of experience in Software Engineering, Software Infrastructure Engineering, Security, Big Data and Analytics, or Cloud Networking.
  • Experience working across a distributed, and highly integrated team composed of both technical and non-technical members.
