About the position

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you will leverage your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from inception to completion. Your role will involve collaborating with stakeholders to define project requirements, identify potential risks, manage project schedules, and communicate effectively with cross-functional partners across the organization. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects align with the strategic goals of the company while maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality consumer-facing products. In the Search team, you will tackle intricate engineering challenges and contribute to expanding Google's infrastructure, ensuring that the search experience remains universally accessible and useful for users worldwide. You will utilize your extensive technical and leadership skills to manage projects of varying sizes and scopes, identify future opportunities, enhance processes, and drive the technical direction of your programs. Your ability to articulate analyses and recommendations to executives, as well as discuss technical trade-offs with engineers, will be crucial in this role. Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using technical expertise.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to plan requirements and identify risks.
  • Manage project schedules and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners.
  • Define the scope of projects and develop, execute, and manage project plans.
  • Review key metrics pertaining to programs and monitor potential deviations.
  • Identify, communicate, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to drive impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience with software development and managing execution of programs that span multiple engineering teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with consumer facing products.
  • Experience with lifecycle management in a fast-paced software environment.
  • Ability to use technical judgment to solve software engineering challenges.
  • Ability to be influential on a highly integrated team of technical and non-technical members.
