About the position

The Technical Program Manager IV plays a crucial role in the successful definition, implementation, and delivery of complex programs that necessitate cross-functional collaboration and interdependencies across various projects and related activities. This position is pivotal in ensuring that programs are delivered within the constraints of scope, quality, time, and budget, while also managing multiple moderate-probability, moderate-impact risk factors. The role requires strategic planning at the program level, interaction with executive management, and the ability to resolve complex issues effectively. Excellent communication and team-building skills are essential for success in this position. In this role, the Technical Program Manager will manage a group of internal exempt and matrixed employees and contractors who contribute to the project(s). Responsibilities include overseeing project scope definition and management, requirements gathering and documentation, time estimating, project schedule development and tracking, project budget management, project status reporting, issue and risk management, contingency planning, and customer interaction. The Technical Program Manager will also be responsible for defining, documenting, implementing, and owning the device allocation process, tracker documents, and systems across AR and VR devices for XR Tech. This includes coordinating across XRT work-streams to aggregate device needs and delivery, collaborating with hardware partners on build specifications, and managing device distribution and intake processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, a proven ability to learn business processes quickly, and the capability to work effectively with business partners at various organizational levels. A strong ability to assess risk and apply management principles to technology applications and business functions is also essential. Experience in delivering technology and business application solutions in a large-scale, multi-platform systems environment is highly desirable, along with familiarity with the software development lifecycle. The Technical Program Manager IV must demonstrate a bias for action and a sense of urgency in their work.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver programs within the constraints of scope, quality, time, and budget while managing multiple moderate-probability, moderate-impact risk factors.
  • Engage in program-level strategic planning and interact with executive-level management.
  • Resolve complex issues and demonstrate excellent communication and team-building skills.
  • Manage a group of internal exempt and matrixed employees and contractors to deliver systems and enhancements that meet specified requirements.
  • Oversee project scope definition and management, requirements gathering and documentation, time estimating, project schedule development and tracking, project budget management, project status reporting, issue and risk management, and contingency planning.
  • Coordinate across XRT work-streams on aggregating device needs and delivery across different locations and sites.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional hardware partners on build specifications and final allocation for XR Tech.
  • Manage device distribution (allocation lock) and intake (returns) processes, including administrative controls to unlock devices as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, or a related field required.
  • MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.
  • PMP or PMI certification is required.
  • Proven skills in project estimating, project scheduling & tracking, customer interaction and management, and implementation planning in large organizations.
  • Demonstrated people management and team-building skills.
  • Ability to be flexible/adaptable in exercising judgment in a changing environment and managing competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to learn business processes quickly and work well with business partners at different levels within the organization.
  • Strong ability to assess risk and apply management principles to technology applications/products and business functions.
  • Experience delivering technology and business application solutions in a large-scale, multi-platform systems environment.
  • Experience with the software development lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
