About the position

The Technical Program Manager for MR Product Design Engineering at Meta will play a crucial role in the exploration, development, and delivery of cutting-edge augmented and mixed reality technologies. This position focuses on managing the entire lifecycle of hardware programs, from early concept through to launch, ensuring that new technologies are integrated effectively and meet the evolving needs of users. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to establish best practices and ensure timely delivery of hardware for development builds, while also addressing any potential setbacks that may arise during the process.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Design Engineering to define and execute next generation hardware programs.
  • Create development, delivery, and qualification schedules based on system requirements and business needs.
  • Manage communication within and between internal cross-functional and external partners.
  • Develop milestone schedules, communicate program statuses, and identify/address potential setbacks.
  • Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and technology development processes in a dynamic environment.
  • Manage delivery of hardware for development builds and ensure qualification to meet mass production timelines.
  • Coordinate and drive engineering deliverables, including specifications, DOE, and validation plans.
  • Ensure program documents are complete, current, and available for staff and leadership review.
  • Contribute to resource planning to ensure program success and objectives are met.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience working as a technology development program manager for consumer electronics.
  • Experience in ODM/JDM/CM vendor engagement models.
  • Knowledge of phase gate approach to technology development projects.
  • Experience with mechanical system development, design for manufacturing, tooling, validation, and characterization processes.
  • Strong communication, planning skills, and attention-to-detail.
  • Knowledge of program and issue tracking and version control software.
  • Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams and projects.
  • Ability to maintain a positive view and be a source of team morale in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years experience working as a technology development program manager for consumer electronics.
  • 2+ years experience working in a mechanical engineering field preferred.
  • Experience in first party product development, defining requirements and program constraints, and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.
