About the position

The Technical Program Manager (NORDTECH) position at NY CREATES involves leading and coordinating project management activities for the Northeast Defense Technology Hub. The role requires collaboration with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful project execution, customer engagement, and stakeholder management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, particularly in technical projects related to the semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the planning, execution, and delivery of hardware managed through the NORDTECH project awards.
  • Partner with technical leads to define project objectives, scope, deliverables, milestones, schedules, stakeholders, resource needs, dependencies, budgets, and risks.
  • Utilize project management best practices to monitor project deliverables and schedule, measure project performance, and document project activities.
  • Coordinate and facilitate project team meetings.
  • Manage communications to customers, including agreements and Export Control paperwork relevant to the project work.
  • Provide summarized project plan documentation and reporting to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Engage with project teams to assist technical leads in translating strategic objectives into actionable projects.
  • Recommend and implement techniques to improve productivity and increase operational efficiency.
  • Create and analyze key performance indicators to drive improved results and address execution issues.
  • Compile and prepare accurate reports, graphs, and charts of data using CRM and project management tools.
  • Work with finance to evaluate and maintain program and project financial models, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Oversee vendor contracts, payments, and negotiate terms and pricing relevant to the project work.
  • Implement financial controls and policies per contract or sponsored program requirements.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to ensure goals and activities align with NYCREATES' mission.
  • Engage in continual learning to remain abreast of industry best practices and emerging standards.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field from an accredited institution or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in project management managing technical projects.
  • 5+ years of experience navigating complex organizational structures and collaborating with technical and business teams.
  • Basic understanding of the semiconductor industry, IC manufacturing process, and process technologies.
  • Strong background in driving initiatives and results by effectively managing resources and complex programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with exceptional interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • PMP Certification
  • MS in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field or BS or MS in Engineering Sciences or Advanced Engineering Sciences from an accredited institution or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Basic understanding of photonics and quantum focused applications.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a semiconductor foundry with a sound technical understanding of the semiconductor industry.
