About the position

The Technical Program Manager for Product Operations at UKG will play a pivotal role in the Value Stream Acceleration Services team, which is part of the Engineering, Product, Innovation, and Cloud (EPIC) organization. This team is dedicated to managing a portfolio of value streams that contribute to an enterprise SaaS product, with the primary goal of accelerating the delivery of value to customers. The team comprises highly skilled practitioners who collaborate to ensure that these value streams deliver maximum value, driving innovation, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, while championing best practices in program management and execution to support product initiatives. In this role, the Technical Program Manager will leverage their technical acumen to guide project planning and execution, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards. They will focus on enhancing the customer experience by representing customer needs and preferences within various programs and initiatives. The role requires strong problem-solving skills to analyze complex challenges that arise during project execution, identify root causes, and develop innovative solutions. The Program Manager will assist in leading complex, cross-functional program activities, ensuring alignment with program outcomes and timelines, and will work closely with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to facilitate communication and resolve issues. Additionally, the Technical Program Manager will engage in continuous learning and improvement, partnering with a mentor to curate their Product Ops Support journey. They will contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance program delivery efficiency and effectiveness, identify program risks and issues early, and assist in developing mitigation strategies. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about driving excellence in customer experience and program management.

Responsibilities

  • Apply familiarity with software development processes to guide project planning and execution, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
  • Focus on the customer experience (internal and external), leveraging a customer-centric lens to represent customers' needs and preferences within a program or initiative.
  • Analyze complex challenges that arise during project execution, identify root causes, and drive development of innovative solutions to overcome them.
  • Assist in leading complex, cross-functional program activities, ensuring alignment with program outcomes and timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to facilitate communication and resolve issues.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, prioritize tasks, and deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Engage in continuous learning and improvement by being partnered with a mentor and attending workshops and training opportunities.
  • Contribute to continual process improvement initiatives to enhance program delivery efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identify program risks and issues early and assist in developing mitigation strategies. Monitor risks throughout the program lifecycle and escalate as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 1-3 years experience in product operations or related role in a SaaS organization, with a strong understanding of Agile methodologies, project and program management concepts.
  • Ability to leverage a customer-centric lens to represent customers' needs and preferences within a program or initiative.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build positive working relationships.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in collaborating effectively within fast-paced team environments.
  • Ability to evolve alongside new challenges and environments.
  • High ownership and accountability mindset.
