Our mission is to make the world's electric grid visible, ensuring that everyone has access to clean, affordable, and reliable energy. We are collaborating with partners globally to develop AI-powered tools that will assist those working with the grid in building and managing a carbon-free and secure electricity system. Currently incubating at X, Alphabet's innovation lab, we are in the process of scaling Tapestry for greater global impact. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing team that combines the agility and impact of a startup with the world-class technology developed at Alphabet. As a Technical Program Manager for Tapestry, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness of our Engineering, Product, and Operations teams as they prepare our product for commercialization. This position involves supporting the daily progress of our software development, aligning both software and hardware efforts with product priorities, and driving overall efficiency. The role is dynamic and requires exceptional cross-functional communication, organization, and planning skills. The ideal candidate will have a programming background and some exposure to agile methodologies. You will lead overall program management for a fast-paced, innovative software development team, balancing workloads, leading engineering sprints, structuring meetings, and tracking workstreams to support program goals. Additionally, you will create a decision-making forum for regular roadmap reviews and prioritize key development tasks, proactively identify issues, and guide the team through the challenges of early product development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead overall program management for a fast-paced, highly innovative software development team.
  • Balance workloads, lead engineering sprints, structure meetings, and oversee workstreams supporting program goals.
  • Organize bugs and feature requests into the product backlog in alignment with project priorities.
  • Create a decision-making forum for regular roadmap review and prioritization of key development tasks.
  • Proactively identify problems and create programs and processes to solve them.
  • Guide the team through learning and changes inherent in early product development.
  • Translate customer priorities into engineering impact to provide input on timelines and feasibility.
  • Drive velocity, efficiency, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • At least 5 years of project/program management or product development experience.
  • Experience driving a program from prototype to a realized product.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, written, and analytical skills.
  • Track record of successful implementation of TPM processes in engineering organizations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters degree in engineering disciplines or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working on or passion for the energy sector or sustainability.
  • Ability to influence without authority in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in a startup-like environment.
