About the position

ALTA IT Services is seeking a motivated Technical Program Manager (TPM) with experience in Satellite Communications to support a satellite communications company based in Irvine, California. This full-time onsite position requires the TPM to serve as the technical and programmatic coordinator for internal engineering teams involved in designing, qualifying, and building ground SatCom terminals to meet the exacting standards of valued customers. The TPM will play a crucial role in driving critical product development programs, ensuring that requirements are thoroughly reviewed, risks are effectively mitigated, and progress is smoothly scheduled. Additionally, the TPM will provide technical input into commercial discussions, making this role integral to the success of the organization. In this capacity, the TPM will collaborate closely with both internal and external engineering teams to prioritize, coordinate, and facilitate various aspects of product design, testing, verification, integration, deployment, and troubleshooting. The TPM will guide cross-functional teams to focus on the most critical technical challenges while maintaining a comprehensive view of the overall business cases. Furthermore, the TPM will be responsible for preparing succinct and insightful program summaries to present to internal and external executive managers during periodic business reviews. The role also involves supporting the business development division in initializing new programs for customers, which includes drafting technical proposals, preparing product white papers, and estimating development timeframes. The TPM will coordinate engineering teams to review and assess product specifications, define program timelines, and manage the program master timeline by tracking deliverables and mitigating delays. Regular program meetings and workshops will be hosted to track action items, identify critical paths, and resolve technical issues, ensuring that all stakeholders are kept informed of program progress.

Responsibilities

• Support the business development division to initialize new programs for customers, including drafting technical proposals, preparing product white papers, and estimating development timeframe.
• Coordinate engineering team to review and assess internal and external product specifications for final requirements settlement.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to define program timelines and critical milestones, including design reviews, prototyping, pilot runs, and product delivery.
• Host periodic program meetings and special workshops to track action items, identify critical paths, mitigate risks, and resolve technical issues.
• Manage the program master timeline by tracking deliverables, benchmarking milestones, coordinating communications, mitigating delays, and handling unexpected issues.
• Summarize program progress for internal and external stakeholders, from engineers to executive managers.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of Satellite Communication system
• 5+ years of experience in the Satellite Communication industry
• MS degree in relevant field preferred
• Background in electrical, mechanical, and/or software engineering
• Experience with SatCom product hardware or software design, development, and integration.
• Demonstrated program management skills in environments that include technical and business uncertainty.
• Excellent verbal communication skills with an ability to understand people across language barriers and to interact with colleagues from different cultural backgrounds.
• Excellent written communication skills with an ability to adapt presentation style as required for different audiences.
• A self-motivated and dedicated individual who demonstrates exceptional creative and critical thinking abilities, along with outstanding attention to detail.
• Demonstrated documentation skills in using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project) to prepare internal and external documents.
