About the position

The Technical Program Manager at Allegion is a pivotal role responsible for maintaining the company's leadership in the specialty door and window market, ensuring supreme customer satisfaction. This position requires a candidate with a strong attention to detail and a proven ability to lead complex projects from inception through production. The Technical Program Manager will oversee the complete lifecycle of projects, driving innovative research and development (R&D) initiatives to completion. This role is essential in delivering enhanced features and product benefits, ensuring that all projects align with customer requirements and manufacturing capabilities. In terms of project management, the Technical Program Manager will establish and maintain processes for managing project scope, setting quality and performance standards, and assessing risks throughout the project lifecycle. The candidate will review technical information provided by customers for accuracy and completeness, create detailed drawings that meet customer specifications, and collaborate with both customers and internal manufacturing teams to achieve efficient designs. Reporting project outcomes and risks to management, monitoring project activities, and ensuring timely delivery are critical responsibilities of this role. The R&D aspect of the position involves designing, developing, researching, testing, analyzing, and evaluating new and modified products and processes. The Technical Program Manager will execute R&D projects from initiation to completion, evaluate potential suppliers and vendors, and provide technical expertise to internal customers and suppliers. This role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to find creative solutions to complex problems, ensuring that all projects meet the necessary time, cost, and quality metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain processes for managing project scope during the project lifecycle.
  • Set quality and performance standards and assess risks.
  • Review technical information provided by customers for accuracy and completeness.
  • Create detailed drawings that meet customer requirements and define the product for manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal manufacturing to achieve efficient designs.
  • Report project outcomes and risks to management and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Monitor all project activities and resolve issues impacting project delivery.
  • Deliver project releases to manufacturing meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide guidance to Regional Sales Managers on project feasibility and risks.
  • Design, develop, research, test, analyze, and evaluate new and modified products and processes.
  • Execute R&D projects from initiation to completion.
  • Research, evaluate, and select potential suppliers and vendors.
  • Analyze and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and diagrams.
  • Provide technical expertise and consultation to internal customers and suppliers.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of project management experience leading low to high complexity projects from customer requirements through delivery.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, science, or a related field required.
  • 2D CAD experience in detailing and design of product components and assemblies (AutoCAD preferred).
  • 3D CAD experience with assembly modeling, sheet-metal component modeling, and drawing creation required.
  • Experience executing projects in a manufacturing environment, preferably custom sheet-metal product manufacturing.
  • Exemplary attention to detail with prior examples of delivering projects meeting time, cost, and quality metrics.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in conducting research, designing product solutions, and presenting findings/results.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to find creative solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
