About the position

The Technical Project Manager at TCG will oversee an IT modernization project for a federal agency, ensuring that it is completed on time, within budget, and to specification. This role involves strategic planning, resource management, and acting as the primary point of contact with the federal client. The position requires a strong focus on project planning, coordination, and oversight, leveraging industry expertise to manage project scope, schedule, and resources effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
  • Meet with internal and external stakeholders to communicate and document the project progress.
  • Actively identify and mitigate customer and project level risks.
  • Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.
  • Create management, communication plans and processes.
  • Define project responsibilities with stakeholders.
  • Participate in how the budget and staff are allocated for the project.
  • Hold regular technical project meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding the project.
  • Determine and define clear deliverables, roles and responsibilities for staff members required for the project.
  • Collaborate with the client Program Manager, Project Managers, and Leads to achieve client objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews, preparing, and completing action plans, implementing quality standards, and removing barriers on critical paths.
  • Research and evaluate hardware and software technology options and weigh the cost/benefit analysis when making large purchases on behalf of the client.
  • Develop a plan for post-implementation operations and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and Agile (e.g. CSM) certifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience as a Technical Project Manager
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Managerial experience applying analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to anticipate challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles
  • Ability to work with and communicate effectively with clients and team members (consultants, technical staff, subject experts) to define project activities and resolve issues
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation
  • Comfortable working directly with senior Federal technical staff
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
