About the position

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, is seeking a Technical Project Manager 4 to join our global Engineering operations team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our five platforms and their respective sub-teams operate efficiently and effectively. The Technical Project Manager will report directly to the Executive Director of Engineering Ops and will be responsible for implementing a consistent approach to planning and execution across all platforms. This is crucial for maintaining optimal quality and reliable communication regarding the progress of work and release communications. As a Technical Project Manager, you will be assigned to the Beeswax platform, which is FreeWheel's Demand Side Platform. Your role will involve both inward and outward-facing responsibilities. Inwardly, you will be part of a centralized Engineering Ops TPM team, helping to shape standard operating practices. Outwardly, you will educate and drive the adoption of these practices within your assigned platform. You will provide consultative, practical, and hands-on services to support product and engineering stakeholders, ensuring their needs are met through continuous improvement processes. Additionally, you will help organize and drive roadmap projects to completion, interacting with a diverse mix of stakeholders across product and engineering disciplines, including senior leaders. Your primary duties will include planning and executing platform team activities, coaching teams on best practices, leading planning ceremonies, and ensuring that engineering activities are accurately maintained in our systems of record. You will also contribute to shaping standard operating practices, develop project plans for roadmap deliverables, and communicate the status of active work to ensure visibility and accountability. Your role will require strong organizational skills, the ability to analyze data, and effective communication to influence and lead teams towards achieving results.

Responsibilities

  • Be a trusted partner within your assigned platform, encouraging teams to plan and execute their work efficiently and responsibly.
  • Ensure that engineering activities are accurately maintained in systems of record, including status updates and linking to the roadmap.
  • Coach teams on the implementation of planning and execution ceremonies, building good habits that reinforce standard operating procedures.
  • Lead planning and execution ceremonies across and within development teams, ensuring alignment and continuous improvement.
  • Understand team dynamics, help remove blockers, and allow the team to operate smoothly.
  • Shape and reinforce standard operating practices as part of a centralized Engineering Ops TPM team.
  • Educate and drive the adoption of standard practices within your assigned platform.
  • Develop project plans for roadmap deliverables, collaborating with key stakeholders to execute the plan and deliver success.
  • Leverage internal tools for planning and execution, providing visibility and accountability for project team members.
  • Communicate the status of active work updates, providing metrics for data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in project, program, or operations role, preferably in media/ad.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in an agile environment.
  • Experience running agile/scrum ceremonies.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to speak, listen, and write clearly and effectively.
  • Experience developing comprehensive project plans for technically focused projects or software development deliverables.
  • Proven track record of strong organizational skills, with the ability to set priorities and track work transparently.
  • Experience pulling and analyzing data to inform decisions.
  • Ability to explore innovative solutions to operational or organizational challenges.
  • Effective at influencing and leading teams through cooperation and trust.
  • Proficient in Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, MS Office products, especially Excel; experience using Aha is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or technology-related field; corporate PMO experience is an asset.
