About the position

Bastian Solutions is seeking a Project Manager for their Automated Guided Vehicle division in Georgetown, KY. The Project Manager provides oversight and is responsible for all phases of various development and automation projects, including coordinating team members, material, and equipment. The Project Manager will ensure that all specifications are being followed and that work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. By being the single point of contact to our customers, a proactive, positive, problem-solving approach is crucial. The Project Manager will also assist with the implementation of the project to the customer. The role involves submitting weekly Project Reports to keep the customer continually updated, holding teleconferences, and scheduling face-to-face meetings. The Project Manager must learn the customer's business to best represent its needs to the team. Continual management of the project budget is essential, including approving all purchases and invoices while constantly seeking to improve the financial standing of the project by cutting costs without compromising quality. The Project Manager will create the initial Gantt chart and maintain the schedule in conjunction with the appointed Scheduling Coordinator. Additionally, the Project Manager will be an integral participant in the testing, debugging, and eventual turnover of the system to the customer. Providing key input about the customer's operations is necessary to ensure that the team creates the best design possible for the customer. The role requires travel for customer site visits, implementations, and project support, with travel requirements of up to 50% overnight travel, with expenses paid by Bastian Solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and management of all phases of development and automation projects.
  • Coordinate team members, materials, and equipment for project execution.
  • Ensure specifications are followed and work is on schedule and within budget.
  • Act as the single point of contact for customers, maintaining a proactive and positive approach.
  • Submit weekly Project Reports to keep customers updated on project status.
  • Hold teleconferences and schedule face-to-face meetings with customers.
  • Learn the customer's business to effectively represent their needs to the team.
  • Manage the project budget, approve purchases and invoices, and seek cost-cutting measures without compromising quality.
  • Create and maintain the project schedule using Gantt charts in collaboration with the Scheduling Coordinator.
  • Participate in testing, debugging, and turnover of the system to the customer.
  • Provide input on customer operations to ensure optimal design solutions.
  • Travel for customer site visits, implementations, and project support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology, or equivalent technical experience.
  • 2-5 years of previous project management experience.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office or Office 365, including Microsoft Project and Excel.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and strong organizational abilities.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to troubleshoot software and program AGV software.
  • Passion for Robotics, Autonomous Vehicle systems, Supply Chain Automation, and Logistics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
  • PMP certification is a plus.
