About the position

The Technical Project Manager (Costing) at Molex is responsible for overseeing the cost management of products within the Printed Circuits Solutions team. This role involves optimizing costs related to materials, labor, and capital equipment while ensuring effective communication with cross-functional teams to support business development and manufacturing processes. The position requires strong organizational skills to consolidate information and document assumptions related to product costs, ultimately assisting in winning new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Capture and consolidate information related to all contributions to the cost of a product.
  • Optimize costs for materials, labor, capital equipment, and NRE (Non-returnable Engineering) costs.
  • Understand process flow related to manufacturing electronic assemblies.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to teammates effectively.
  • Communicate with manufacturing team members to discuss methodologies affecting cost.
  • Work closely with Business Development and Sales Engineers to respond to Requests for Quotation.
  • Summarize costing information to assist in winning new business opportunities.
  • Document assumptions and establish part costs for prototype and high-volume production.
  • Calculate costs of capital equipment and amortize over part costs.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills for interacting with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
  • Experience in influencing decision-making processes.
  • Ability to manage and consolidate information from multiple sources.
  • Knowledge of DFM concepts and ability to apply them during the quotation phase.
  • Aptitude for learning about manufacturing equipment and materials used in flexible printed electronics.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with Bills of Material (BOM) for electrical and mechanical components.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, such as AutoCAD and NX.
  • SAP experience and proficiency in Excel with formulas and pivot tables.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
