About the position

The Technical Project Manager will oversee the construction process for multiple data center projects, ensuring effective management to meet schedule, quality, and design requirements. This role is crucial for coordinating between internal teams and colocation providers, facilitating decision-making, and maintaining project timelines and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, track, and facilitate the decision-making process across project stakeholders to ensure timely execution.
  • Oversee the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers for timely milestone delivery.
  • Analyze projects to evaluate risk profiles and inform the business of potential impacts.
  • Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Focus on base building and MEP infrastructure aspects of the projects.
  • Coordinate tenant fit-out projects with the DCIB teams to ensure integration with base building infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with design teams to align construction activities with approved plans.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers, ensuring effective communication.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies for project success.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards during construction activities.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation input for colocation providers to drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure adherence to schedules and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of base building data center construction, including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing.
  • Proven experience in managing the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing long-term strategies for construction projects.
  • Deep understanding of data center design, construction, and operational requirements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale data center construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Ability to lead under pressure and mentor a diverse team of professionals.
  • Proficiency in creating and managing project budgets for cost-effective resource use.
  • Ability to identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Extensive experience in vendor management and contract negotiations.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards for compliance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
