About the position

The Technical Project Manager for Data Center Construction at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is responsible for overseeing the construction process of multiple data center projects. This role is crucial for ensuring that projects are managed effectively to meet schedule, quality, and design requirements, while collaborating with various stakeholders, including colocation providers and internal teams. The position requires a strong background in project management, technical design, and construction, with a focus on delivering high-quality, efficient, and sustainable data center facilities.

Responsibilities

• Understand, track, and facilitate prompt decisions and actions across project stakeholders to keep projects on track.
• Oversee the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring timely completion within budget and quality standards.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers for timely milestone delivery.
• Analyze projects to evaluate risk profiles and address gaps in risk identification and mitigation.
• Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
• Focus on base building and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) infrastructure aspects of projects.
• Coordinate tenant fit-out projects with the DCIB teams to ensure integration with base building infrastructure.
• Collaborate with design teams to align construction activities with approved design plans.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers, facilitating effective communication.
• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards during construction activities.
• Provide ongoing evaluation input for continuous improvement of colocation providers.
• Conduct regular site visits to ensure adherence to schedules and quality throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of base building data center construction, including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing.
• Proven experience in managing the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex challenges in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Expertise in developing and implementing long-term strategies and establishing program-level requirements for construction projects.
• Deep understanding of data center design, construction, and operational requirements, focusing on cutting-edge technologies and sustainability.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale data center construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
• Ability to lead under pressure, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of project managers, engineers, and construction professionals.
• Proficiency in creating, managing, and optimizing project budgets to ensure cost-effective use of resources.
• Ability to identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and costs.
• Extensive experience in selecting, negotiating, and managing contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies to ensure compliance in all construction activities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement and clear project updates.
