About the position

The Technical Project Manager for Data Center Infrastructure at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is responsible for overseeing the construction of multiple data center projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, managing project schedules, evaluating risks, and ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards. The position plays a crucial role in supporting Oracle's data needs and driving growth through effective project management and collaboration with colocation providers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers for milestone delivery.
  • Independently analyze projects to evaluate risk profiles and inform stakeholders of potential impacts.
  • Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Focus on base building and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) infrastructure aspects of projects.
  • Coordinate tenant fit-out projects with DCIB teams to ensure integration with base building infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with design teams to align construction activities with approved plans and specifications.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers, facilitating effective communication.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards during construction activities.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation input for colocation providers to drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor schedule adherence, coordination, and quality throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of base building data center construction, including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing.
  • Proven experience in managing the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing long-term strategies for construction projects.
  • Deep understanding of data center design, construction, and operational requirements, focusing on cutting-edge technologies and sustainability.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale data center construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Ability to lead under pressure and mentor a diverse team of project managers, engineers, and construction professionals.
  • Proficiency in creating, managing, and optimizing project budgets.
  • Ability to identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Extensive experience in selecting, negotiating, and managing contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies for compliance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
