About the position

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and oversee the migration of on-premises databases to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing complex database migration projects, ensuring a seamless transition with minimal disruption, and collaborating closely with stakeholders, technical teams, and third-party vendors. This role demands a strong understanding of cloud technologies, particularly GCP, database management systems, and best practices in cloud migration.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and execute detailed project plans for the migration of databases from on-premises to Google Cloud Platform.
• Define project scope, objectives, milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
• Monitor project progress and adjust as necessary to ensure successful and timely completion.
• Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring that mitigation strategies are in place.
• Collaborate with technical teams to design and implement best practices for database migration and management on Google Cloud Platform.
• Ensure that security, compliance, and performance requirements are met throughout the migration process.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving migration-related technical issues to minimize disruption to business operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in IT Project Management, with at least 2 years of experience managing database migrations, preferably from on-premises to cloud environments like Google Cloud Platform.
• Proven experience with cloud technologies, particularly Google Cloud Platform services like Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Spanner, and Cloud Storage.
• Strong understanding of database management systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and migration tools such as Google Database Migration Service, Cloud Data Fusion, or third-party solutions like Striim and Datastream.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders, align business and technical requirements, and drive teams to deliver on time.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in risk management and change management.
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies is preferred.
• Knowledge of IT compliance and security best practices related to database management and cloud solutions.

Nice-to-haves

• Google Cloud Platform certifications such as Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Data Engineer.
• Experience with automation tools like Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) in cloud environments.
• Understanding of data governance and database performance tuning techniques.
