About the position

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is seeking a Technical Project Manager I or II for the Odessa Area Office. This position is crucial for overseeing and executing construction projects, particularly focusing on the IH 20 A+B project. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project timelines, budgets, and quality, while also mentoring and training future leaders in the field. Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute construction projects within the Odessa Area Office, focusing on the IH 20 A+B project.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and quality to ensure successful project completion.
  • Provide mentorship and on-the-job training to develop future leaders in the field.
  • Consult with Project Engineers and contractors on work progress and construction problems.
  • Direct, develop, and evaluate projects using accepted project management methodologies.
  • Inspect construction methods and workmanship to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Monitor project costs and quality to ensure deliverables meet contract specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to approved safety standards during project phasing and traffic control plans.
  • Assist in engineering-related data collection, inspections, and assessments for plan development.
  • Serve as a project leader and coordinator for all aspects of projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.
  • 5 years of experience in construction project management, project management, process engineering, or business process improvement methodologies.
  • Valid driver's license required for driving a state vehicle.
  • Experience can be substituted for education on a year-per-year basis.
