About the position

The Technical Project Manager II - Federal at Lumen plays a crucial role in managing projects related to Lab and Field Engineering environments. This position is responsible for setting milestones for each project and coordinating efforts between internal and external teams to ensure effective and efficient project delivery. The Technical Project Manager will assist with technical proposals, engineering processes, and documentation control, ensuring that all aspects of the project are aligned with the company's goals and standards. In this role, the Technical Project Manager will oversee projects from inception to completion, which includes conducting research, feasibility assessments, design, proposal development, lab testing, implementation planning, procurement, documentation, and transitioning projects to the operational environment. The position requires interfacing with team members and vendors/suppliers to ensure support, scheduling, milestone achievement, and development processes are met. Additionally, the Technical Project Manager will assist in the procurement of specialized equipment and manage related services and agreements. The role also involves collaboratively adapting existing project plans and developing new processes and communication standards for the engineering teams. The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for ongoing tracking of each assigned project, developing reports and presentations, and proactively managing program material inventory and related databases. Identifying changes in project scope and associated risks, as well as developing contingency plans, are also key responsibilities of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Manages assigned projects related to Lab and Field Engineering environments.
  • Serves as a project manager in assigned projects from inception to completion including research, conceptualization, feasibility assessment, design, proposal, lab testing, implementation planning, procurement, documentation, and transition to the operational environment.
  • Interfaces with team members and vendors/suppliers to ensure support, scheduling, milestone achievement, development processes and goals, assist in procurement of specialized equipment, equipment tracking, related services and agreements, purchase orders, and specific procedures support for implementation.
  • Collaboratively adapts existing and develops new project plans, processes, and communication standards for the engineering teams.
  • Manages the formulation and ongoing tracking of each assigned project.
  • Assists with the development of reports and presentations.
  • Proactively manages program material inventory, tools, and related material tracking database.
  • Identifies changes in project scope and associated risk, develops contingency plans as needed.

Requirements

  • PMP certification is a plus or certification within one year.
  • Project management experience.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Knowledge of SAP.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience working with vendors/suppliers is a plus.
  • A high level of technical writing ability is required.
