About the position

The Technical Project Manager at Lumen plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects related to Lab and Field Engineering environments. This position is responsible for setting milestones for each project and coordinating efforts between various teams, both internal and external, to ensure that projects are delivered efficiently and according to plan. The Technical PM will assist with technical proposals, engineering processes, and documentation control, ensuring that all aspects of the project are managed effectively from inception to completion. In this role, the Technical Project Manager will manage assigned projects, which include a range of responsibilities such as research, conceptualization, feasibility assessment, design, proposal development, lab testing, implementation planning, procurement, documentation, and transitioning projects to the operational environment. The Technical PM will interface with team members and vendors/suppliers to ensure support, scheduling, milestone achievement, and development processes are on track. This includes assisting in the procurement of specialized equipment, tracking equipment, managing related services and agreements, and ensuring that specific procedures are followed for implementation. The Technical PM will also be responsible for collaboratively adapting existing project plans and developing new processes and communication standards for the engineering teams. Ongoing tracking of each assigned project will be a key responsibility, along with assisting in the development of reports and presentations. Additionally, the Technical PM will proactively manage program material inventory, tools, and related material tracking databases, while identifying changes in project scope and associated risks, and developing contingency plans as needed. Inventory control and asset management will also be part of the role, ensuring that all project materials are accounted for and managed effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manages assigned projects related to Lab and Field Engineering environments.
  • Serves as a project manager in assigned projects from inception to completion including research, conceptualization, feasibility assessment, design, proposal, lab testing, implementation planning, procurement, documentation, and transition to the operational environment.
  • Interfaces with team members and vendors/suppliers to ensure support, scheduling, milestone achievement, development processes and goals, assist in procurement of specialized equipment, equipment tracking, related services and agreements, purchase orders, and specific procedures support for implementation.
  • Collaboratively adapts existing and develops new project plans, processes, and communication standards for the engineering teams.
  • Manages the formulation and ongoing tracking of each assigned project.
  • Assists with the development of reports and presentations.
  • Proactively manages program material inventory, tools, and related material tracking database.
  • Identifies changes in project scope and associated risk, develops contingency plans as needed.

Requirements

  • PMP certification is a plus or certification within one year.
  • Project management experience.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Knowledge of SAP.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience working with vendors/suppliers is a plus.
  • A high level of technical writing ability is required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and 3-5 years of related experience is preferred.
