About the position

The Technical Project Manager II at Blue Origin plays a crucial role in supporting the design, build, and maintenance of ground systems for test and launch operations. This position is integral to the Test & Flight Operations team, focusing on delivering complex projects on time and within budget while ensuring alignment with system requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical leadership and project management expertise, contributing to the company's mission of enabling safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities

  • Support and/or lead the execution of the end-to-end delivery of multiple technical projects, including planning, scheduling, procurement, resource allocation, and budget management.
  • Act as primary contact to develop an overall project management plan consistent with objectives defined by key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to define, monitor, and control project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Proactively monitor and control project scope, manage change requests, and track risks and opportunities for multiple projects.
  • Track key performance indicators and report out at program monthly reviews.
  • Manage the preparation, execution, and closeout of follow-up actions for Gated Reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR).
  • Develop procurement packages, perform bid leveling, and manage external contracts in support of project efforts.
  • Perform audits and continual improvement of project management tools and apply structure to how a growing organization manages multiple projects.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree or higher in engineering, construction, business, or another technical field.
  • More than 2 years of experience in managing complex system development projects within the aerospace or similar safety-critical industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of project management principles on multi-disciplinary integrated systems, including project planning and change management.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to identify and tailor to a target audience.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or Scrum Master certification.
  • Prior experience in aerospace flight/component testing or design.
  • Experience in industrial construction, including permitting and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with tools such as MS Project, Airtable, Tableau, and JIRA.
