About the position

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. As a Technical Project Manager III for Facility Integration, you will be part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts responsible for overseeing multiple Facility Integration projects within launch vehicle manufacturing, integration, and testing, as well as launch sites and command/control centers. This hands-on position focuses on project oversight and engineering tasks, including remedial investigation, design, engineering, and operation. You will serve as the central figure and authority for managing projects within the approved scope and budget, ensuring that adequate monitoring and controls are in place to meet or exceed Blue Origin's requirements. Your role will involve coordinating and executing all phases of the project from planning to closeout and turnover to Blue Origin. This includes managing the installation of a wide variety of equipment and tooling, as well as work center relocations and setups. Your work will directly impact the history of space exploration, requiring your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. You will develop overall project plans consistent with project objectives defined by the project owner and key stakeholders, in accordance with accepted project management standards in the industry (e.g., PMI, PMBOK, ANSI, and ISO standards).

Responsibilities

  • Develop overall project plan consistent with project objectives as defined by the project owner and key stakeholders in accordance with accepted project management standards in the industry (e.g., PMI, Project Management Body of Knowledge [PMBOK], ANSI, and ISO standards).
  • Act as primary project contact to establish key stakeholder requirements and project objectives.
  • Manage implementation and planning of multiple projects, which includes defining project scope, goals, deliverables, tasks, and resources.
  • Responsible for building and deploying multiple project plans.
  • Responsible for scheduling and creating project timelines, and monitoring and reporting on project progress.
  • Manage program and project contracts, budgets and schedules for an entire project.
  • Lead others and direct all phases of projects or subsystems of major projects from inception through completion.
  • Evaluate quality of workmanship, safety, and environmental concerns.
  • Coordinate related project activities that affect successful completion of the project effort to include systems furniture, communications, conventional furniture and any associated equipment.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and will be responsible for the accuracy of the project data and for the entire cost accounting of the project.
  • Coach, mentor and technically assist other engineers.
  • Identify opportunities for safety improvements and operational cost savings.

Requirements

  • Prefer B.S. in Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management.
  • Minimum over 10 years of experience with complex facility construction and renovations projects.
  • Experience leading and managing small- to medium-sized teams integrating multiple subsystems to meet a top level system requirement.
  • Strong personnel management and mentoring skills.
  • Recent facility development or management experience supporting mission critical operations.
  • Experience in sub-contract management of suppliers including request for proposal, specification and statement of work.
  • Project leadership with the ability to work with stakeholders, knowledge of manufacturing operations, Launch Site environment, assembly processes, and quality control.
  • Proficient in project management software (Milestones, MS Project).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong project management, budget management and team leadership skills.
  • Project planning, schedule and cost estimation.
  • Strong safety mindset and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operations.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with launch site, spacecraft manufacturing, Project leadership with the ability to work with stakeholders, knowledge of manufacturing operations, Launch Site environment, assembly processes, and quality control integration and test.
  • Knowledge and experience in Local and National Codes.
  • Knowledge and experience in Safety plans and programs to comply with laws, regulations and policies.
