About the position

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) for manufacturing at Firestorm will play a pivotal role in leading several core and peripheral product plans, deliverables, and timelines. This position is based onsite in the San Diego office and reports directly to the Head of Manufacturing. The TPM will be responsible for planning, driving, and leading fast-paced and highly technical projects that are essential to the company's mission of democratized deterrence. Firestorm is a VC-backed technology company that develops mission-adaptable aerial vehicles, aiming to provide world-class capabilities at lower costs compared to traditional defense procurement methods. As a TPM, you will be tasked with managing multi-disciplined, multi-supplied global projects, which includes planning, budgeting, and resource allocation. You will continually monitor and report on project status and key metrics, identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies. The role also involves negotiating terms related to performance, delivery, and cost with third-party engineering services, as well as coordinating factory acceptance testing, installation, and commissioning of manufacturing cells. You will be expected to produce professional documentation, reports, and training guides, while also planning intermodal logistics and collaborating with internal and external teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, hands-on experience in an engineering trade, and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. You should be a team player who enjoys working with Gantt charts, dashboards, and checklists, and have experience across a wide range of manufacturing operations for industrial installations. This role is crucial for ensuring that Firestorm continues to innovate and improve its product offerings, advocating for features that will benefit programs and delight customers.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, budgeting, resourcing of multi-disciplined, multi-supplied, global projects
  • Continual monitoring and reporting of project status and key metrics
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigations
  • Negotiate various terms related to performance, delivery and cost with 3rd party engineering services
  • Coordinate factory acceptance testing, installation and commissioning of xCell Manufacturing cell
  • Plan and propose solutions for scaling various manufacturing operations and joint projects with 3rd parties
  • Produce professional, customer-facing documentation, reports and training guides
  • Plan intermodal logistics and coordinate with internal and external teams/organizations
  • Partner with Engineering to continually improve current product offerings and advocate for product features that will benefit your program and delight your customers

Requirements

  • 4-year engineering degree (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical preferred)
  • Minimum 2 (3+ years preferred) years managing technical projects
  • Experience working on projects with global 3rd party engineering and consultation services
  • Ability to competently set up and interact at a high proficiency (admin level) with advanced software tools
