About the position

The Technical Project Manager at Dürr Systems Inc. is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the technical coordination and decision-making processes related to various technical issues in collaboration with the Senior Project Manager and specialist departments. This position requires a deep understanding of the automotive paint facility project execution, particularly within the Paint and Final Assembly Systems (PFS) domain. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering and have a minimum of 10 years of experience in paint shop engineering and project management, with a strong preference for direct knowledge of Dürr products. The Technical Project Manager will be tasked with managing projects that involve complex systems such as Pre-Treatment and E-Coat systems, work decks, application systems, and building utility systems. The role demands expertise in fully automated paint facilities, including knowledge of paint, sealer, and Liquid Applied Sound Deadener (LASD) application robots, as well as circulation systems. Additionally, the candidate should have experience in implementing Industry 4.0 solutions in both new and existing paint facilities, ensuring that the projects align with modern technological advancements. In this role, the Technical Project Manager will also be responsible for layout design management throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that all aspects of the project are executed efficiently and effectively. The position requires strong leadership, negotiation, and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers. The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and have experience with SAP, as well as a solid understanding of project schedules and time management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee technical coordination and decision-making regarding technical issues in collaboration with the Senior Project Manager.
  • Manage projects related to Paint and Final Assembly Systems (PFS) including Pre-Treatment and E-Coat systems.
  • Ensure effective execution of automotive paint facility projects with a focus on layout design management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Implement Industry 4.0 solutions in new or existing paint facilities.
  • Communicate effectively with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Maintain project schedules and ensure timely completion of project milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in paint shop engineering and project management.
  • Profound knowledge and experience of Paint & Final Assembly Systems (PFS).
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience in layout design management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of fully automated paint facilities and related technologies.
  • Familiarity with explosive atmospheres and management methods in a paint shop environment.
  • Knowledge of Failure Mode Analysis (FMEA) in an automotive manufacturing context.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Direct knowledge of Dürr products is preferred.
  • Experience in managing international projects.
