About the position

The Technical Project Manager will play a crucial role in the Data Platform and Services team of a major Sports/Entertainment Company, focusing on developing backend APIs and services to enhance fan engagement through digital products. This position involves collaboration with various teams, ensuring alignment with the product roadmap, and delivering high-quality consumer applications. The role requires a commitment to working on-site in Midtown NYC three days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Become a subject matter expert of the data domain and serve as a direct point of contact for project and team discussions.
  • Meet with leaders throughout the Platform & Services organization to craft and execute a strategic vision for program efficiency in an Agile software development lifecycle.
  • Drive execution and delivery of multiple high-profile product or software development projects.
  • Help define, track, and review key metrics related to organizational health and project delivery.
  • Manage communication and build strong relationships with teams across engineering, product, finance, and more.
  • Approach software development and project management with a growth mindset, continuously gathering input from teams and iterating on processes.
  • Monitor work and measure results within engineering domains.
  • Work with Engineering Leads to develop a roadmap for the program and keep it aligned with product priorities.
  • Collaborate with TPMs in the Data, Innovations & Engineering organization to plan, document, and coordinate the delivery of data products.
  • Facilitate the development of requirements considering known technical capabilities, limitations, and interdependencies.
  • Drive execution and delivery of multiple high-profile product or software development projects from start to finish.
  • Define and execute a high caliber communication plan for complex projects and programs.
  • Contribute to developing a roadmap for the team and maintain it in line with product priorities.
  • Assist teams in story writing, backlog maintenance, prioritization, and planning.
  • Lead planning, refinement, and release ceremonies for the engineering team.
  • Adapt to changing conditions and modify project execution plans as appropriate.
  • Identify blockers and facilitate the removal of impediments.
  • Proactively highlight and resolve risks and issues and communicate those risks to stakeholders.
  • Maintain stakeholders informed of day-to-day project statuses, updates, and risks.
  • Cultivate relationships across engineering and technical teams to drive progress forward.

Requirements

  • Strong technical background with 3+ years of experience building highly scalable and available platforms or services, preferably using AWS.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager, Technical Project Manager, or Scrum Master managing cross-functional projects.
  • Preferred certifications: Scrum Master Certification (CSM or PSM) or PMP and other relevant certifications.
  • 3+ years of experience managing API-related projects.
  • 3+ years of experience delivering large and complex programs, owning the business or technical vision, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and securing commitments on deliverables.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering).
  • Ability to distill complex issues into solvable and actionable tasks.
  • Extensive experience with SDLC methodologies, allowing for flexibility in process.
  • Strong technical proficiency demonstrated in coding skills, quality assurance experience, or technical writing background.
  • Experience in Project Management Methodologies, Frameworks, and tooling.
  • Experience in managing multiple teams for a program with varying degrees of maturity on both Scrum and Traditional program management scales.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to facilitate collaborative and efficient work among parties.
  • An innate problem solver with the ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Experience creating KPIs, dashboards, and metrics.
  • Working knowledge in release planning and management.
  • Experience in risk reporting, management, and mitigation.
