About the position

The Technical Project Manager - Rigging at Solotech is responsible for planning and coordinating the equipment necessary for successful live production projects. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure quality project delivery, managing schedules, and providing technical solutions while prioritizing safety and adherence to industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the operations team on the initiation, planning, and execution of live production projects.
  • Assist the Director of Audio, Video, Lighting and Rigging with various projects, ensuring smooth planning, coordination, and successful delivery.
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive project schedules, including work plans, drawings, budgets, resource allocation, timelines, and estimated delivery dates.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the rigging department in collaboration with management.
  • Develop and present progress reports on project scope, budget, resource allocation, schedule, deliverables, and risks.
  • Create and design technical rigging drawings while being proficient in other areas such as audio, video, lighting, fabrication, and truck packs.
  • Analyze technical drawings to determine rigging requirements weights, and weight distribution solutions.
  • Identify potential technical risks during project execution and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Create comprehensive lists of required equipment for each project.
  • Provide technical solutions for cable management, rigging points, and custom hanging solutions.
  • Ensure proper installation of equipment in accordance with plans, prioritizing safety and adherence to Solotech's and industry standards.
  • Propose innovative solutions to technical challenges and offer suggestions for improving project execution.
  • Serve as a technical resource for technicians, offering guidance and clarifying technical terms as needed.
  • Participate in global initiatives such as special projects and health and safety committees, as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in audiovisual, stage techniques, or equivalent training; or three (3) years hands-on experience in event production or a relevant field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in live event production rigging or touring.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience with Vector Works.
  • Crew Chief on entertainment projects experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of inventory software (an asset).
  • Knowledge of Vector Works and Braceworks.
  • Knowledge of Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge in live event production equipment.
  • Knowledge of safe rigging practices.
  • Ability to travel overnight frequently.
  • Flexible work schedule, night and weekend availability required.
