About the position

The Technical Project Manager at DSP Concepts will oversee the successful delivery of DSP-based audio designs and software, ensuring that project scope and resource constraints are effectively managed. This role involves collaboration with clients and internal resources, creating project management plans, and ensuring that project goals are met within established timelines and quality standards, all while maintaining high customer satisfaction. The position requires a strong technical background in embedded software development and DSP audio, along with project management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage successful delivery of a portfolio of DSP Concepts audio projects.
  • Project planning and execution, issue and risk management, stakeholder management, and developing and delivering effective communication.
  • Provide excellent service and build ongoing relationships with stakeholders, offering program guidance and support to project teams.
  • Play a primary role in customer communication, change management, and conflict resolution.
  • Understand client and internal resource capabilities and constraints, adjusting project plans accordingly.
  • Develop and manage project activities including scheduling, resourcing, and backlog management.
  • Proactively manage issues and escalations on projects, ensuring timely deliverables.
  • Present project status via dashboards to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Work with Finance to report project revenue status and invoicing requirements.
  • Improve internal processes for efficiency gains and respond to customer inquiries.
  • Facilitate technical project activities including architecture trade-offs, troubleshooting, and implementation planning.
  • Manage and plan tooling and hardware deliveries to support teams and meet project requirements.
  • Actively work to unblock project activities.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical, software, computer engineering or similar technical field, with an emphasis in audio and/or communications preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years in an engineering role in a product development environment.
  • 3 or more years of project management and related experience, including successful program kick-off and completion.
  • Ability to execute projects in both waterfall and agile development environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (or similar) preferred.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices (e.g. Jira/Confluence/Bitbucket, SmartSheets/MS Project, Office Tools).
  • Experience seeing projects through the full project lifecycle.
  • Experience with contributing to, interpreting, and implementing contracts including statements of work, orders, and similar.
  • A strong understanding and direct experience with software and hardware development, the software development life cycle, embedded systems, and relevant development processes.
  • A basic understanding of machine learning and its application in products.
  • A broad interpretation of responsibilities, a desire for learning, and a willingness to work outside your job description if needed for success.
