About the position

The Technical Project Manager (PM) at Black & Veatch leads the delivery of Utility Transformational programs and projects, focusing on areas such as Grid Modernization, Advanced Metering Infrastructure, and Customer Experience solutions. This role involves managing project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and resources while ensuring client satisfaction and developing long-term relationships. The PM will also support federal award project delivery under the Bi-partisan Infrastructure Law, contributing to initiatives that enhance utility reliability and resiliency.

Responsibilities

  • Align client technical needs with identified business objectives through project planning and execution.
  • Manage large, complex, multi-year technology infrastructure and systems projects involving multiple stakeholder organizations.
  • Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills to negotiate resolutions to complex problems.
  • Integrate planning and scheduling across power systems infrastructure and OT/IT systems using multiple delivery methodologies.
  • Support organizational planning, structured project planning, finance and accounting, and personnel administration.
  • Identify resource needs, build project teams, and align team members to meet project objectives.
  • Act as a change advocate, navigating and resolving unforeseen challenges while balancing scope, schedule, resources, and quality.
  • Develop professional quality work products at each stage of the project management lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience
  • 7+ years experience in a business/consulting environment
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • Master's Degree preferred

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with utility construction and software systems delivery methodologies
  • Conversant in business, functional, and technical aspects of utilities
  • Experience with power systems T&D infrastructure and distributed energy resources
