About the position

Steampunk is seeking a Technical Project Manager who is creative and is a hands-on expert with delivering innovative technology solutions. This role is pivotal in leading the project tasking and delivery in a government client consulting environment. The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for team leadership throughout the complete life cycle of solution development and delivery. This includes providing Agile Project Management support and acting as a Scrum Master for Agile teams. The successful candidate will coordinate with product owners and stakeholders to prioritize the backlog, create release schedules, and develop roadmaps based on assessment recommendations. Additionally, the Technical Project Manager will establish technical practices and release management standards that align with the customer's processes, ensuring that the team effectively follows Agile scrum processes and drives high client satisfaction. In this role, you will manage and maintain successful, results-oriented relationships with clients while identifying and pursuing new opportunities with existing clients. You will develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, manage a remote project delivery team, and facilitate technical discussions to troubleshoot project implementation issues. The Technical Project Manager will assess the current organization and delivery environment, recommending optimal Agile practices tailored to the client’s needs. You will also provide Agile Scrum Master support, attend Agile ceremonies, and remove blockers to ensure project success. Coaching the Product Owner and team on backlog refinement and prioritization will be essential, as will handling challenging client situations and offering technical and business guidance to client executives. Furthermore, you will lead and manage staff, monitor their performance, evaluate project feasibility, eliminate non-productive tasking, and find creative ways to ensure project delivery, potentially accelerating it. Assisting staff with training needs to create skills expansion and career advancement opportunities will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the project tasking and delivery in a government client consulting environment.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience in tactical project management of highly technical initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a complex engineering environment as a technical project manager.
  • Strong judgment, negotiation, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to establish trust with a variety of stakeholders and customers.
  • Self-managed and self-starter, ability to work independently.
  • A degree or equivalent, preferably in Information Technology or related field.
  • PMP and Scrum Master certification preferred.
  • Ability to hold a position of public trust with the US government.
