About the position

Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a Technical Project Manager. This position is a contract-to-hire role with a duration of 6 months, and while it is primarily remote, candidates must be local to Topeka, KS. The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for the initiation, planning, execution, and closure of various projects. This includes developing comprehensive project plans, coordinating with agency business and IT staff, ensuring compliance with established standards, managing project resources, tracking progress, resolving issues, and providing oversight and reports to leadership. Additionally, the Project Manager will support the Project Management Office (PMO) in portfolio management and maintain project management tools and practices. The role involves crafting and refining project plans that include schedules, communication strategies, and quality controls tailored to meet project objectives and align with organizational goals. The Project Manager will implement and oversee project-specific tools such as MS Project and SharePoint, ensuring efficient project tracking and collaboration. Evaluating project compliance against established architectural standards and policies is crucial, as is providing oversight and guidance to business and IT managers to ensure adherence to project planning standards and methodologies. Monitoring project progress against timelines and budgets is essential, as is ensuring that deliverables meet predefined quality standards. The Project Manager will also be responsible for identifying, documenting, and resolving project issues and risks, employing strategic problem-solving to mitigate impacts on project outcomes. Active participation in portfolio management and enhancing project management practices will contribute to the broader goals of the PMO, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Crafting and refining comprehensive project plans, including schedules, communication strategies, and quality controls.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or higher is preferred.
  • Three years' experience with IT related project management or five years' experience with IT related project management.
  • Proficiency in project planning, execution, monitoring, and closure techniques.
  • Strong analytical thinking and creative problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills for coordinating with agency business and IT staff.
  • Collaboration skills for working effectively with team members, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership abilities to provide guidance and oversight.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with change management to introduce new processes or tools.
  • Ability to negotiate and manage vendor contracts effectively.
