About the position

The Technical Project Manager will support the US Marine Corps (USMC) in managing enterprise-level data center operations. This role involves enabling the engineering, operation, and sustainment of the USMC application hosting environment for worldwide customers through Agile Project Management methodologies. The position is hybrid, requiring three days onsite and two days remote, and is based in either Kansas City or Quantico, VA.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Project Manager/Scrum Master for projects supporting engineering, operation, and sustainment of the USMC's Enterprise Application Hosting Environment.
• Monitor, triage, and assign working queues and execute approved Data Center Battle Rhythm projects and activities across the HCS team service areas.
• Lead HCS teams across the data center to maintain and execute project management via an Integrated Master Schedule of all Data Center projects and initiatives.
• Support Agile Project Management efforts in addition to traditional Waterfall project management, focusing on technical implementation.
• Facilitate Project Management Board/Workforce Management Meetings to request approval and prioritization of project initiatives.
• Identify and assemble the appropriate blend of resources and cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive project plans.
• Capture, publish, and mitigate project risks and issues.
• Monitor, take action on, and report the status of projects and project critical path.
• Lead project teams in determining Data Center requirements and translating them into operational plans.
• Ensure adherence to Data Center strategic and tactical goals.
• Prepare and facilitate daily and weekly status meetings for project stakeholders.
• Review and evaluate opportunities to improve project management best practices within the HCS Team.
• Provide Application Inclusion support for new systems joining the HCS hosting environments.
• Coordinate with MCSC activities supporting datacenter onboarding and hosted-customer program managers.

Requirements

• High School diploma with 14 years of experience, Bachelor's degree with 10-12 years, Master's degree with 8-10 years, or PhD with 5-7 years of experience.
• Strong technical/datacenter/cloud build and operations experience.
• Industry project management certification such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or 5+ years of IT Project Management expertise relevant to the position.
• ITILv3 2011 Foundations certification or training; ITILv3 2011 intermediate is desired.
• Significant IT project management experience including complex project implementations.
• Understanding of USMC IT and Cyber policies and procedures and organizational constructs.
• Active Secret security clearance.
