About the position

The Technical Project Manager will play a crucial role in new product development engineering, focusing on prototype hardware and software projects. This position serves as a bridge between customer ideas and the engineering team, ensuring successful project execution from concept to prototype. The role emphasizes collaboration, technical management, and customer relationship management within a dynamic, four-day workweek environment.

Responsibilities

  • Control the entire project life cycle.
  • Handle all resources and coordination from a technical standpoint.
  • Manage hardware product development and integration of the project.
  • Set and achieve objectives, ensuring top quality and control of the project.
  • Focus on customer relationships, providing updates and discussing successes.
  • Prepare proposals and negotiate contracts, including NDAs and ROMs.
  • Manage technical risks, schedules, costs, and product performance balance.
  • Identify and assist in managing prototype manufacturing vendors.
  • Participate in meetings, events, and customer test sites.
  • Track progress and milestones of projects.
  • Lead team meetings and team-building events, developing best practices.
  • Work closely with the Business Development team and potential clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience with 3 years of project or product management experience in engineering organizations.
  • Ability to plan, manage, and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering efforts.
  • Experience in embedded hardware/controls development is a plus.
  • Experience in a startup/small business environment.
  • Ability to manage teams in a fast-paced/time-critical development environment.
  • Experience in Business Development/Sales and Marketing.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident.
  • Willingness to travel 25%, if needed per project.
  • Experience and understanding of hardware product development and integration of major engineering components.
