The Technical Project Manager role at SMC Corporation of America is a pivotal position that requires close collaboration with IT leaders, business leads, technical teams, vendor partners, and peers. This position is essential for driving project success and ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned with project goals and objectives. In this role, the Technical Project Manager will be responsible for planning and managing project strategies, tasks, team staffing, and resources. They will lead the formulation of project objectives and define the project scope, ensuring that all deliverables, goals, and milestones are scheduled effectively. A key aspect of this position is to ensure quality across projects by developing consistent processes for project teams. The Technical Project Manager will establish and support best practices for deliverable tracking, risk assessment and mitigation, communication, and key performance metrics. The role also involves establishing project governance and oversight, driving accountability to achieve project milestones and outcomes. The Technical Project Manager will identify risks, offer mitigation strategies, and manage scope creep to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Understanding stakeholder needs and expectations is crucial, and the Technical Project Manager will use proactive communications to keep all parties informed about project status. They will escalate issues as necessary and ensure that tradeoffs and priorities are well understood by key stakeholders. Additionally, the Technical Project Manager will coordinate multiple projects, lead within a project team to influence outcomes, and provide leadership without formal authority. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining technical documentation and may fulfill multiple roles within a team or project. Guidance to other members of the IT Department is also a key responsibility, along with any other duties as assigned.
