About the position

Zurn Elkay Water Solutions Corporation is seeking a Technical Project Manager to serve as the technical lead for project teams involved in the design, development, and launch of new water delivery products. This role is crucial in ensuring that projects meet cost, schedule, and quality requirements. The Technical Project Manager will translate customer requirements into detailed product technical specifications and establish technical milestones that align with the overall program timing. The individual will lead the team in making design decisions and will be responsible for managing product-level trade-offs to meet stakeholder requirements. In this position, the Technical Project Manager will oversee product verification and validation planning, guiding the team through failure resolution and managing product builds throughout the development cycle. The role requires managing cost, schedule, and performance trade-offs to meet program objectives while also addressing technical risks throughout the product development cycle. The Technical Project Manager will lead subsystem integration into the finished product by interfacing with technical experts in various fields, including electronics, refrigeration, and filtration. Additionally, the individual will serve as the voice of engineering to cross-functional project teams and collaborate closely with the Product & Project Management, Sourcing, and Operations teams. This position is based in Downers Grove, Illinois, and offers the flexibility of remote work up to two days per week for employees within normal commuting distance. The role also requires domestic travel of up to 10% to customer sites and supplier visits. Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical lead for project teams in the design, development, and launch of new water delivery products.
  • Translate customer requirements into product technical specifications.
  • Establish technical milestones for project team to fit within overall program timing.
  • Lead team in making design decisions and manage product level trade-offs to meet stakeholder requirements.
  • Oversee product verification and validation planning.
  • Lead team through failure resolution.
  • Manage product builds through the development cycle.
  • Manage cost, schedule, and performance trade-offs through the development cycle to meet program objectives.
  • Manage technical risks throughout the product development cycle.
  • Lead subsystem integration into the finished product by interfacing with technical experts in electronics, refrigeration, & filtration.
  • Serve as the voice of engineering to cross-functional project teams.
  • Collaborate with the Product & Project Management, Sourcing, and Operations teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related degree.
  • 5 years of experience in any position leading product development.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or related certification.
  • Demonstrated experience leading new product development project teams through a stage gate process.
  • Experience working with and managing offshore Engineering teams in India and China.
  • Proficiency with verification and validation tools, including DFMEA and DVPR.
  • Proficiency with Root Cause Analysis methodologies, including 8D and A3.
  • Proficiency with project management software tools and methodologies.
